Baseball Steroids | Steroids Have Been In Baseball For Decades
Steroids have been in baseball for decades. Those in the bodybuilding and steroid communities new this, but most of the general public did not. When the Mitchell Report was released, most of the baseball world was in shock.
The top players in the NFL use steroids, the top players in the MLB use steroids, Olympians use steroids, but for some reason people were shock at how wide spread steroid use was in baseball. It is no different than bodybuilding, and people wondering about Ronnie Coleman’s steroid use. People will do whatever they can, to get an edge, and whatever they can get away with. Players read signs, doctor baseballs… take steroids.
What amazes me was all the ‘purists’ out there who were so rattled about the whole situation, and many claimed they would never watch baseball again. Really? I wonder how many have actually stopped watching baseball. These purists didn’t seem to mind watching the homerun race between Sosa and Bonds, but once they found out Bonds was using steroids, Bonds was the most hated player in baseball.
The truth is, home runs and big hits are the most exciting part of baseball for most viewers. It is impossible, but if you removed steroids from the game, we’d all watching the home run leaders struggling to hit 30 home runs a season, and seeing a home run in a game would be rare. Is that exciting?
Atleast Albert Pujols doesn’t use steroids, he’s a real role model… I’d love to see the reactions if and when they find out he’s not as natural as people think. Let’s look at professional bodybuilding. It’s safe to assume all pros are using steroids. What are the chances the top professional bodybuilder, say Jay Cutler, is natural, in a sport where all the top athletes are using steroids? Not very likely. When the games top stars were caught using steroids, Alex Rodriguez, Mark McGwire, Jason Giambi, Jose Canseco, Roger Clemens, David Ortiz, what are the chances one of the biggest names, Albert Pujols is completely natural? I’ll let you decide.
Even if Pujols did get caught, I’m sure it was some ‘cough medicine’ he was on, or legal supplement that was given to him by someone in the Dominican Republic.
The truth is, steroids are a part of baseball, they are a part of every sport, even golf, tennis, you name it, it’s there, and it will always be there. Steroid use in sports is similar to those burning movies illegally, they are always one step ahead of those trying to stop it. The funny thing is, the whole point of the Mitchell report was stop steroid use, and to clean it up for the future of baseball. What it really did, was increase steroid interest all over the world. Young kids hearing about their favorite baseball player used steroids to get where they did, what do you think these kids think? They figure they’ll need to use steroids to become a professional athlete too. I will guarantee there are more kids than ever searching for anabolic steroids, all because of the media, and trying to stop steroid use.
